More budding entrepreneurs looking for online information on starting a business, according to Google and Experian

here has been a boom in web searches for business advice, traffic analysis from Google and Experian has found.
The end of the financial year usually correlates with a dip in searches for small business information, but queries were up by 50pc in the first week of April compared with the same period last year, Experian Hitwise found.
A separate year-on-year analysis by Google found that searches for ‘business plan UK’ are up by 60pc, while ‘small business loan’ searches increased by 34pc.
Experian said the Government-backed StartUp Britain scheme had encouraged some of the interest in information on starting a company, with searches for start-up advice up by 25pc during the week of the scheme’s launch compared to the previous seven days.
People in Huddersfield were found to be the most likely to be searching for start-up advice online, while the North West and the Midlands were the regions where budding entrepreneurs were conducting the most searches, Experian said.
Simon Streat, managing director of small and medium-sized enterprise at Experian UK & Ireland, said: “Too many start-ups currently decline or cease trading within a few years as their owners do not always possess the business know-how to go with their creative vision.
“It is very encouraging to see a high volume of web traffic fuelled by budding entrepreneurs looking to learn the basics of starting a business.
“However it is vital for future business owners to look beyond the short-term and seek advice on how to deliver meaningful and sustained growth – giving them a solid grounding on issues such as how to secure funding, win customers, source suppliers and mitigate risks.”
